Has anyone run into issues with the Inspire M3 (or similar single-stack home gyms) where the “universal” approach actually ends up limiting progress for intermediate or advanced users? I’ve seen a lot of praise for the space-saving and versatility, but after a few years on free weights I’m skeptical about these all-in-one machines.
Specifically:
- For presses and rows, does the fixed range of motion eventually hinder strength or hypertrophy gains compared to dumbbells/barbells?
- How’s the long-term durability of hinges/cables/pulleys with heavy and frequent use? Any maintenance or wear issues worth knowing about?
- Anyone feel like they’re just “going through the motions” compared to the focus required with free weights?
- And does switching to a machine like the M3 ever bring back noticeable gains for people who felt plateaued with barbells/options at home?
I get why they’re popular, but aside from space, are we sacrificing real progress for convenience? Any advanced lifters here ditch their M3 after a while, or are there creative ways to keep progression interesting and effective? Not looking for sales pitches-want the real, long-term user experiences.
