I’m thinking about getting a Marcy Smith Machine for my home gym, but I can’t find a clear answer on how much the bar actually weighs. Some people say it’s lighter than a regular Olympic bar because of the pulley/counterweight system or fixed rails, but I’m not sure.
Does anyone here own a Marcy Smith Machine and know what the starting bar weight is (either with or without counterbalance)? Does the weight feel different compared to a regular free weight barbell, and should I adjust my numbers for bench press, squats, etc? Would love feedback before I start planning my workouts. Thanks!
